The production capacities of domestic shipbuilding enterprises need serious updating and modernization.
On the one hand, it is pleasant to note that, as one unfavorable memory of the secretary general said, "the process has gone" - according to the "Strategy", in recent years the share of fixed assets that are less than 10 years old has been steadily growing. However, immediately, the "Strategy" notes the main shortcomings of domestic enterprises. One of the main is impossibility for most of them to build ships in a large-block way: the enterprises do not have the possibility of installing such units or the infrastructure for their transportation. It is noted that the modular-aggregate methods are fully used only in the construction of submarines. There is also an obsolete machine tool, a small proportion of CNC machines, a weak automation and robotization of production. It is interesting that information technologies are being introduced quite widely, but due to the obsolete machine tool this does not give the effect that could be expected. It is noted that a number of enterprises have unique technologies (processing and welding of titanium structures, equipment for assembling large assembly units, measuring and testing complexes, etc.), surpassing the world level in terms of technical characteristics, but inferior in mechanization and automation.
