Scientists have noticed interesting patterns - in the cold season, people are 31% more likely to be diagnosed with senile dementia or moderate cognitive impairment.

They came to the conclusion that the brain of people works best in late summer and early autumn, and worst of all - in the winter and spring months.
Seasonal difference in the level of intelligence in cognitively healthy older people is equivalent to almost 5 years of age difference. That is, in the summer and autumn, people of advanced age are intellectually less than 5 years old, - explained the authors of the project.
This pattern is influenced by the amount of light and heat, the ability to eat fresh food (vegetables and fruits), the duration of sleep. And the brain obeys the seasonal rhythms of mental states, which also correlate with the time of the year. In particular, depression is most often manifested in the winter.
